"What price are you willing to pay for a second chance?"

THE_STORY

Colorado Territory, 1880s. Doc Faustus — aging physician, broken by his inability to save lives — meets Mephisto at a desolate crossroads. The mysterious man in black offers a deal: youth and power in exchange for his soul. Doc accepts.

Transformed into a vital young man, Doc arrives in a mining town in decline and seduces Maggie, the preacher's daughter, under the silent watch of her sister Valentine — the town's sheriff. Their passion ignites against the backdrop of gold fever and social corruption.

When Valentine confronts Doc at High Noon, the duel leaves her mortally wounded. Maggie, abandoned and carrying Doc's child, descends into madness in the chapel. Mephisto circles closer, collecting on his bargain.

In the final reckoning, Doc faces the impossible choice between love and damnation — a Western Faust where redemption may arrive too late, and the devil always wins at the crossroads.

CHARACTERS

Doc Faustus

Aging Physician, Soul-Seller

A doctor broken by his limits, who trades his soul for youth. His musical signature transforms from mournful banjo to virtuoso electric guitar as Mephisto's deal takes hold.

Mephisto

The Devil at the Crossroads

Mysterious man in black who collects souls at life's intersections. His slide guitar theme drips with reverb and menace.

Maggie

Preacher's Daughter, Tragic Beloved

Pure and innocent at first, Maggie's musical theme descends from sweet banjo to desperate blues as Doc's corruption destroys her.

Valentine

Sheriff, Maggie's Sister

The town's protector and Maggie's sister. Her heroic steel guitar theme drives the opera's most confrontational moments.

The Preacher

Moral Authority

Voice of the community's spiritual conscience. His organ and gospel choir underscore the opera's themes of sin and redemption.

THEMES

The Faustian Bargain

The eternal question: is any price too high for a second chance at life?

Corruption of Innocence

How one man's deal with the devil destroys everyone around him — especially those who love him.

Justice vs. Mercy

Valentine's lawful heroism against Mephisto's chaos — the West as moral battleground.

Redemption's Last Call

Can grace arrive in time? The Western as a space where salvation and damnation coexist at every sunset.
